Retro 51 Tornado:
This pen was my first. I got it as a present from my mommy around the time that I graduated high school. Up until the time I found it in my old art supplies it had not been used much. As a result, the threading on the part that screws into the body of the pen was corroded (because it wasn't cleaned properly). So I did some research and found out that Retro's warranty for these pens (and all their pens) is extremely good. (One woman sent in her pen and they sent her back a brand new one!) So I figured I'd give it a try and send my pen to them. I chose not to pay for insured shipping, and so I couldn't track my package to see if they received it or not. I was really nervous, when, about two/three weeks later I there was a package on my doormat! I didn't get a whole new pen, but they did totally replace the corroded "section" (part the nib attaches to, which screws into the body, or barrel, of the pen) with a new plastic piece! Anyways, now it's working fabulously and I use it (and my two others) to take furious notes in class!

This is the first pen I bought with my own money! I was so excited. I got it at Two Hands Paperie in Boulder which is an adorable little paper shop with a surprising collection of fountain pens. If anyone is around the Boulder area I suggest checking it out! Anyways, I also got a converter and the J. Herbin Larmes de Cassis (pink) ink at the same time so that I wouldn't be restricted to cartridges. Initially I got a fine nib, but after taking notes for a few weeks I decided to get and extra fine instead (the converter makes the ink flow slightly heavier). This pen has a very consistant flow, which I really rely on in class. How the cap got dented? I have no idea. It probably got slammed in my backpack by something.
Recently, I ordered this pen from Amazon for only about $23 dollars. Currently, this is my favorite pen out of the three! It has the same extra fine nib as my other Lamy, but for some reason it writes much thinner (possibly because I'm still using the cartridge that came with it?). I love this pen for taking notes because I write fairly small and in cursive, which is illegible enough as it is. It is also super cool to look at because it is a demonstrator pen! Once the cartridge runs out, which will be pretty soon here, and I switch to a converter, it will look even cooler. I really like how the blue in this pen looks, and I am considering getting a bottle of Pelikan royal blue ink which I can use with an eradicator.
My birthday is coming up, and I am trying to decide what I want. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with another pen!! Any recommendations?
